Pauline Davis Lorfano graduated from Maine College of Art (formerly Portland School of Fine and Applied Art), Westbrook College and University of Maine, an has taken numerous art workshops with nationally known artists. She has taught drawing and painting on the elementary and college level. She continues to paint in her studio in Vienna, Virginia, give workshops,and jury art exhibits.
Mrs. Lorfano is active in the Arts Community, having served as National Art Board Chairman of the National League of American Pen Woman as well as past President of Potomac Valley Watercolorists and Vienna Arts Society (two terms). Newsletter Editor of Washington Water Color Association, and on the Board of Directors of Vienna Arts Society. A member of the Arlington Art Association, McLean Art Club,Strathmore Hall, and the previous mentioned organizations.
Mrs. Lorfano is a signature member of the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF MARINE PAINTERS, BALTIMORE WATERCOLOR SOCIETY, NATIONAL LEAGUE OF AMERICAN PEN WOMEN and VIRGINIA WATERCOLOR SOCIETY.
Mrs Lorfano was Co-President of the Virginia Watercolor Society 2004. Mrs. Lorfano has received numerous awards over the years including the HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD from Historic Vienna Incorporated, for her illustrations in "Visiting Historic Vienna, A Child’s Book to Color" and numerous drawings and illustrations for the Town of Vienna. Mrs. Lorfano is listed in "Who’s Who in
American Women" and "Who’s Who in American Art", and has been very instrumental in fostering community interest in the arts, particularly in Vienna. Maine College of Art awarded her an Honorary degree in Fine Art in 2000.
Commissions of historical scenes, landscapes, marine scenes, florals and still life's are considered an exciting challenge to Mrs. Lorfano. She enjoys working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal and pencil. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the East Coast, including Chrysler Museum, Maritime Museum, Havre de Grace Museum, and solo shows in Charles Sumner School Museum and National Wildlife Federation, American Horticultural Center, Lawrence Gallery, Atrium Gallery and Fisher Gallery at Schlesinger Arts Center to name a few.
