Elise L. Chang
Elise L. Chang, a distinguished artist, is a well-known singer and painter. Her paintings have been exhibited in group shows as well as area painting events in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. She is the recipient of many awards and her work is in many private collections.
Elise ws born in Taiwan and has spent most of her life in the Washington area. Her talents and interests in art began at childhood in which her artistifc father inspired and encouraged. She focused and studied Sumi-e and traditional arts in early 1990's.
She is versatile in many subjects; but she is most noted for her Sumi-e flowers and fishes. Her works reflect blending of Eastern and Western sensibilities in realistic art and demonstrate elegant design and expression of Feng-shui philosophy that is prevailing among individual and corporate customers. She promoted the oriental culture around the Washington areas with singing and painting. She served as Juror for All-America Chinese School art exhibition and demonstrated the brush painting at Taiwan's Twin Oaks Garden estate in Northwest Washington D.C. She is an active member of Sumi-e Society of America, Strathmore Artist Group, Rockville Art League, The Harmonious Art Group, Baltimore Water Color Society and Washington Water Color Association.
