I grew up in Seattle and have also lived in northern California and South America. I now reside in Silver Spring, MD with my very encouraging, talented and musical husband, Ralph. I love nature and have always enjoyed expressing myself creatively.
I am a professional Sign Language interpreter, former teacher of the Deaf and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador 25 years ago.
Watercolor is my favorite medium because of its atmospheric and spontaneous, expressive qualities. I also enjoy ink monotype printing. Painting and drawing make me feel a part of the beauty I see and expressing this in my artwork is a joyful experience of gratitude. I paint from direct observation/life or from my own watercolor sketches done on location. I create monotype prints from my imagination. Art is a blessing, a great joy and challenge.
I have taken courses at the Washington Studio School, The Art League, Alexandria, Va. with Jackie Saunders and Avis Fleming, Gary Shankman's Smithsonian plein air workshop, Martha Seigel, Garrett Park; the Yellow Barn, Glen Echo and Montgomery College, MD.
I am grateful to all of these lovely and talented instructors for their encouragement and inspiration.
I am a member of the Washington Water Color Association, Rockville Art League, Laurel Art Guild, Montgomery County Plein Air Artists, My work has been shown and sold in various juried and nonjuried shows.
